Photo Metadata Viewer
& Remover
Inspect camera, date and GPS fields, then download a clean photo without copying its hidden metadata.
The clean copy is re-encoded to keep the orientation shown in the preview. Existing camera, GPS, comments and embedded thumbnail data are not copied.
Metadata removal does not hide information visible in the photograph itself. The original file stays unchanged.

Inspect photo metadata and save a clean copy
A photograph can carry information beyond its visible pixels. Depending on the device and editing history, a JPG or PNG may contain camera details, capture dates, descriptive fields, embedded thumbnails or GPS coordinates. This photo metadata viewer displays readable fields and lets you create a new image without copying the original metadata blocks.
Understand the information you find
Choose a JPG or PNG, then search the detected fields for terms such as camera, date or GPS. Different cameras and applications use different tag names. Some photos contain extensive EXIF data, while images downloaded from messaging or social services may already have little information left. A date field can describe an edit rather than the moment of capture, so treat metadata as context rather than proof of an event.
Remove metadata without rotating the displayed photo
Choose PNG or JPG and download a clean photo. The tool decodes the image as displayed by your browser, draws those pixels onto a new canvas and encodes a fresh file. This avoids copying GPS, camera tags, comments, old thumbnails and other source metadata. It also keeps the orientation you see in the preview rather than stripping a rotation tag while leaving sideways pixels behind.
Choose between PNG and JPG
PNG avoids an additional lossy JPEG compression step but may be much larger for photographs. JPG is generally more compact; its quality setting controls the new compression pass. The original file is never overwritten. Check the clean copy before using it in a colour-sensitive or archival workflow, and keep an authorised source when original camera information matters.
What can the viewer detect?
The viewer reads supported EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC and basic image fields using the bundled metadata reader. Not every private or proprietary tag can be interpreted. A blank table therefore does not certify that the source contains no metadata. Cleaning works by constructing a new image from visible pixels rather than relying only on the fields shown in the table.
Is this a photo redaction tool?
No. A location sign, document, face or account detail visible in the picture remains visible after metadata is removed. Crop or edit that content separately in the image editor. For a presentation graphic, finish the cleaned photo with the screenshot beautifier.
Export the metadata separately
The optional JSON download contains the fields shown by the viewer; keep it private if those fields include personal information.
