Video to Animated
WebP Converter
Create an animated WebP from video. Trim, resize, adjust quality and optionally remove the background for a transparent animation.
Your animated WebP is ready
Download WebPTurn a video clip into an animated WebP
Create a looping image from an MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV or AVI video. Choose the moment you want, adjust its frame rate and quality, and download a WebP animation that can be used in a website, product guide, message or presentation. The output is an animated image rather than a WebM video. WebP animation has no audio track, so the converter leaves sound out of the finished file.
Choose a short section of the source
Upload one video up to 1 GB and preview it when your browser supports its codec. Enter the start time in seconds and choose a duration from 0.1 to 30 seconds; the default is five seconds. A start time of 12 and a duration of 4 exports the section from twelve seconds to sixteen seconds. If the video ends sooner, the animation ends with it. Start times beyond the recording are rejected.
Balance motion, detail and download size
The frame-rate control changes how many frames are sampled each second. Fifteen frames per second is selected initially. Lower rates can suit a slow interface demonstration, while 24 or 30 fps can make faster movement smoother. Additional frames also add image data, so use a short, focused clip instead of increasing every setting at once.
WebP quality runs from 50% to 100%, with 85% selected by default. Lower settings favor smaller downloads; higher settings preserve more detail. This is a relative encoding control, not a promised file-size reduction, and 100% does not mean lossless. Review fine text, moving edges and gradients in the downloaded animation before publishing it.
Choose whether to remove the background
Keep background is selected initially and preserves the complete scene. Choose Remove background to isolate the main subject and create an animated WebP with transparent space around it. This uses the same frame-by-frame background-removal service as the Video to GIF tool, with edge stability applied across frames. Cutout quality depends on the subject, lighting and separation from the background; review hair, fine edges and fast movement before using the result.
Background-removal clips can be up to 15 seconds and fit within 960 × 960. The output-width selector offers 320, 480, 720 or 960 pixels, or you can keep the original width within the chosen bounds. Smaller videos are never enlarged. Loop forever repeats the animation continuously; switch it off for a single playback.
Keep the proportions of your recording
Original resolution retains the source dimensions when they fit within 1920 × 1080. Larger recordings are reduced proportionally to fit that box. The 720p option adds a lower maximum height. Smaller footage is never enlarged, and portrait or square clips retain their shape. Reducing dimensions is often a more effective way to lighten an animation than lowering quality alone.
When to choose WebP, GIF or a video file
Animated WebP supports full-color animation and can produce compact loops, but file size depends on the scene and settings. Check that the destination accepts animated WebP; some services accept WebP only as a still image. If you need a GIF for a particular app, use the Video to GIF Converter. To change an existing animation between GIF and WebP, use the GIF and WebP Converter.
For longer recordings, sound, or ordinary playback controls, choose the Video Converter and export MP4 or WebM instead. An animated image cannot carry the same audio, caption tracks or interactive controls as a video player. Save the original recording so you can make another crop or export later.
